WATCH: Hapless Man City fan misses Kompany wonder goal as he leaves stands at EXACT moment of strike

It was a pivotal moment in the Premier League title race but one luckless Manchester City fan missed it as he was seen leaving the stands at the exact moment Vincent Kompanys piledriver hit the back of the net against Leicester.

City captain Kompany lashed in a 25-yard screamer in the 70th minute of the crunch Premier League fixture at the Etihad Stadium, handing his team a 1-0 win and putting them back at the top of the table, one point ahead of Liverpool with one game to play.

The incredible goal from center back Kompany – his first of the season, and first from outside the box since 2007 – was the potentially defining moment in what has been a titanic tussle at the top of the table with Liverpool.

But one hapless fan was deprived of witnessing the moment live and in the flesh as he was seen leaving the stands at the exact moment Kompany unleashed his strike to break the deadlock.

"Spare a thought for that Man City fan at the top of the picture who chose that Kompany moment to pop out for a wee," wrote Joe Michalczuk in sharing the footgae.

It's unclear whether the fan was making an inopportune dash for the public conveniences, popping out for some refreshment or simply making a very early exit to beat the crowds.

Whatever the case, he will be kicking himself to have missed a goal that wrestled the Premier League title firmly back into City's hands.

Pep Guardiola's men now know that a win on the final day of the season away at Brighton on Sunday will seal back-to-back Premier League titles.

Liverpool, bidding for a first league title in 29 years, will be hoping for an unlikely City slip up, while they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final game of the season at Anfield at the same time.

It will be unmissable stuff - or at least you'd think so.
