ELOY, AZ (KOLD News 13) - An Oklahoma man caught driving with his wifes naked body in the passenger seat of their vehicle could soon be facing homicide charges.
The Eloy Police Department said Rodney Puckett, 70, was pulled over Monday, May 13, just off of Interstate 10 near Eloy.
Rodney told officers his wife, Linda Puckett, 74, died at a hotel in Texas. He said he loaded her body in the vehicle and continued toward their destination. The EPD did not say where he was headed, but KOKI reported the couple was going to California.
The preliminary report from Pinal County Medical Examiners Office indicated Linda suffered minor blunt force trauma. The official cause of death has yet to be determined.
The EPD said an officer pulled Rodneys vehicle over after he stopped at a fast food place.
A worker in the drive-thru told the officer Rodney was wearing only boxers while Linda was completely naked. The EPD said Lindas head was on the floorboard and her legs were pointed towards the headrest.
The EPD said surveillance video shows the Pucketts going into a El Paso hotel Sunday night together. Monday morning, Rodney was seen leaving with a luggage cart. Video appears to show a womans body hidden under a blanket on the cart, according to police.
Channel 6 in Tulsa, reported the Pucketts are from Sand Springs, OK. They were married in 2011, but were in the middle of a divorce and Linda had a restraining order against her husband.
Rodney was the subject of a Silver Alert in late April, but he ended up being in a Kansas jail for eluding police.
The Sand Springs Police Department said Rodney and Linda were estranged when the Silver Alert was issued. They later got back together and took the trip together, according to Channel 6.
No word yet on how or why Rodney was released from the jail in Kansas. Authorities said he is bipolar and has extreme back pain. Both conditions require medication, something he did not have during the Silver Alert.
When he was arrested in Kansas, he was driving a maroon 2003 Toyota Tacoma. No word of what vehicle he was driving when he was pulled over in Eloy.
Rodney has been booked into the Pinal County Jail on a charge of abandonment or concealment of a body. Additional charges may be filed later.
