A man is dead and two others are seriously injured after their car went over a 20 metre cliff in regional WA.

The crash happened in the early hours of Saturday at Lyndon, about 1000 km north of Perth.

A male passenger died at the scene and the male driver and a female passenger are being flown to Perth for medical treatment.

Earlier on Saturday in in southern WA, a 16-year-old girl died from injuries suffered when a car ploughed into pedestrians.

A vehicle was travelling in Monjingup, near Esperance, when at about 1.30am Saturday when it struck a group of pedestrians, including the girl.

The girl was critically injured and died later at Esperance Hospital.

Police say they are talking to a 19-year-old man in relation to the incident and are investigating whether speed was a factor.
