On Friday, police were called to a park near Lewisham Dr. and Truscott Dr. where Martin’s body was found in a park.

Mahabir is charged with second degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court Saturday. His relationship to Martin is unknown.

Police have not yet officially identified Martin, but his friends earlier confirmed he is the 14-year-old victim, a student at Clarkson Secondary School. His grandmother, reached at home, said the family is grieving and declined to speak any further.

Detectives continue to say they believe the investigation is an “isolated incident.”

It is not clear how Martin died.

He appears to be the youngest homicide in Peel Region so far this year. His death marks the region’s 25th homicide.
