Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested today his government has discussed the status of troops at the Canada-U.S. border with the Trump administration, after a Canadian media report said the U.S. was considering adding a military presence there.

Canada and the United States have the longest unmilitarized border in the world, and it is very much in both of our interests for it to remain that way," he told reporters. "We have been in discussions with the United States on this.

Global News reported this morning that the White House is weighing sending troops to patrol areas of the border between formal ports of entry to watch for irregular migrants.
