After a week where Rogic was at the heart of a tug of war between club and country, the Socceroo was not named in the starting XI or on the bench for the pre-Asian Cup friendly.
The Socceroos playmaker was unable to feature in this weekend’s Old Firm derby due to being called up for the Asian Cup squad.
It led to objections out of Scotland, with pundit Chris Sutton among those querying the Socceroos’ decision to bring Rogic into camp ahead of the derby.
“The thing which has upset me a bit is the Tom Rogic situation and him not being able to play against Rangers,” Sutton said on BT Sport.
“They don’t need Tom Rogic to pump Jordan, absolutely not.”
So Graham Arnold doesn’t let Tom Rogic play in Old Firm Derby yesterday and then does not use him in friendly game vs Oman either...very poor.xmb— Mark Bosnich (@TheRealBozza) December 30, 2018
Rogic has been managing a knee injury for a sustained period of time.
Fairfax Media’s Vince Rugari reported the injury had flared up after his flight to Oman.
FYI re Rogic... he was not training with the team yesterday and was told his knee had flared up after the flight. Nothing serious, but my sense is if he played vs Rangers, he would have been under duress and/or pulling up sore even closer to the Asian Cup #AUSvOMA— Vince Rugari (@VinceRugari) December 30, 2018
