USA TODAY's Nathan Bomey gives a quick rundown of a few things we are expecting from the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. USA TODAY

It’s finally here. After weeks of hints dropped about engines and teaser photos that show the corner of a headlight, the covers are about to come off. Monday is debut day for new vehicles at the 2019 North American International Auto Show.

From muscle cars to hybrids to heavy-hauling pickups and luxury vehicles, the center of attention for car companies and car buyers around the world is Cobo Center on Detroit’s riverfront.

Some of what’s on tap:

  • The 2019 North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the year will be named Monday morning, a great start to the week for three brands.
  • The Shelby GT 500, the most powerful production Mustang ever, will debut. Ford will also provide more information about sporty ST and fuel-efficient hybrid models of the 2020 Explorer.
  • The elegant Lexus LC convertible concept will audition to be the flagship for Toyota’s luxury brand.
  • Infiniti will foreshadow future technology and designs with its QX Inspiration electric concept SUV.
  • Chinese automakers will move a step closer to selling vehicles here when GAC shows a concept for a future minivan, or MPV as they’re called in China and Europe.
  • Volkswagen, about to announce an alliance with Ford, will unveil its new Passat midsize sedan.
  • Ram will show its 2500 and 3500 HD pickups, capable of towing up to 35,100 pounds and boasting a diesel that generates 1,000 pound-feet of torque.

And much more. Come to Freep.com all this week for the latest developments.
