The E-Skool will be organising its 15th annual district-level science and technology competition, BrainQuest 2019 at the Nutana Ravindra Mantapa on the MGM College campus here from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Speaking to presspersons here recently, Poornima Kamath, Director of E-Skool, said that the objective of the event was to generate interest in science and technology among high school students.
Competitions will be held under categories such as model quest, product quest, and research quest.
Under the model quest, the teams would exhibit models of moisture metres to measure water content in soil for the requirement of plants. Under product quest, the teams will have to design tiny composters to be used in the kitchen to convert vegetable scraps/leftover food into compost.
Under research quest- 1, the participants will have to design an experiment to see how contaminants can percolate through soil and pollute well water.
Under research quest2, the students grow plants in glass/plastic jars and study the effects of greenhouse gases on plant growth.
The participants in the competitions would receive a voucher for 100 that they could use at the MGM College Cooperative Book Store. This will be the last Brain Quest competition, Ms. Kamath added.
