Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley says struggling to lose weight after having her baby was “humbling.”
The 32-year-old who welcomed her first son, Jack, with Jason Stratham in 2017 said it took about a year to get back to her pre-baby weight.
“I gained a reasonable amount of weight,” she told Ashley Graham on her podcast, “Pretty Big Deal,” recently, adding that she gained around 55 pounds. “Listen, I enjoyed myself. I let the reins go. Its a new experience, so youre kind of like, ‘Well, lets see how this goes.’ And six months in I was like, ‘What? This is crazy!'”
Huntington-Whiteley said she felt “empowered” by her pregnancy and even spent the last month walking around her house naked. However, she admitted that losing the weight wasn’t as easy as she thought it was going to be.
“I would look in the mirror and I was like, ‘I have 35 to 40 pounds to lose,’ and I go to the gym, go to the gym, go to the gym. Its not falling off, its not coming off,” she explained. “It was very humbling for me, because having had a certain body type for most of my life & People would always ask me about my body, my workout and you hear yourself saying, ‘you know work out three times a week.'”
The model says she used to tell people about her workout routine and now feels bad about how easy it made it seem to lose the weight.
“I will say working out in the gym and looking back at myself and feeling like s–t, I was like, ‘Now I understand how hard it is for some people to get to the gym,'” she said, adding, “I cannot tell people how to feel about their bodies, because everybody has a different experience.”
