Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most anticipated games of 2018 and will hit stores on October 26. Fans have been patiently waiting for official gameplay footage and Rockstar delivered the first in what seems to be a series of gameplay videos to come.
Fans have waited eight years for a sequel to the amazing Red Dead Redemption released back in 2010. The western-themed, open-world adventure is regarded as one of the best video games ever made for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Rockstar built on that success with Undead Nightmare, an expansion story where the characters fight off hordes of zombies. Red Dead Redemption 2 will serve as a prequel to the 2010 release and the third game in the Red Dead series.
The gameplay trailer for the upcoming sequel shows us that we get to play as Arthur Morgan, an outlaw part of a gang in the waning years of the old west and gunslingers. How you interact with other characters in the game will determine how towns, settlements and other groups of people will react to Morgan. You can choose to be aggressive towards characters or not, each choice will impact the story along the way.
Taking place in 1899, Arthur Morgan is part of the villainess Dutch Van der Linde gang, and he regards them as his family. This doesn't mean that Morgan will be the bad guy, as the honor system allows you to be as bad or good as you want.
Morgan's relationship with his horse will be an important aspect of the game. Spending time and taking care of your horse will determine how the horse performs. Feeding it, brushing it, and calming it down when nervous stop the horse from tossing you off and flee when trouble starts. Neglecting your horse will have a negative effect and send you sailing off its back when scared.
Rockstar truly masters in capturing the realism of the surroundings in every game they do. Red Dead Redemption 2 displays beautiful western scenery down to the last detail with open trails, pastures, and mountains. The one feature we all are excited about seeing is the gunfights and brawls as this is synonymous with the old west. In this gameplay footage, we learn that hand to hand combat will be a big part of the game as Morgan is an enforcer for his gang and will need to rough up people from time to time. The narrator explains that the dead eye system will be featured in the next gameplay reveal.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will surely be one of the biggest releases to date for Rockstar as anticipation grows and more gameplay videos head our way.
