Queen Elizabeth II on Friday ordered that disgraced Hollywood titan Harvey Weinstein be stripped of the prestigious CBE a royal honor she awarded him in 2004 for his contributions to the British film industry, according to a report.

“The Queen has directed that the appointment of Harvey Weinstein to be an Honorary Commander of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, dated 29 January 2004, shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order,” said a statement posted in the London Gazette, the UKs official public record.

The rare removal of official British honors takes place when the holder has brought the honors system “into disrepute,” according to the UKs government, NBC News reported.

This may include instances when the holder “has been found guilty by the courts of a criminal offence and sentenced to a term of imprisonment of more than three months.”

Weinstein was sentenced last year to 23 years in prison after a Manhattan jury found him guilty of predatory sex assault, rape and forcible oral sex.

Lawyers for the fallen honcho who is locked up at the Wende Correctional Facility in Erie County, east of Buffalo plan to appeal the verdict in the coming weeks. He also faces another sex crimes case in Los Angeles.
