A major public health alert has been issued by Queensland Health following the state’s latest case of coronavirus.
Authorities yesterday revealed a 27-year-old Brisbane man had become the state’s first case of community transmission since May after he is believed to have contracted the virus from a young woman who allegedly brought it back to the sunshine state from a trip to Melbourne.
According to authorities, the man dined just metres from the woman at the Madtongsan IV Restaurant in Sunnybank on July 23.
He then went on to visit a number of busy locations in the West Moreton and Brisbane South area, including a major shopping centre, while unknowingly infectious with the virus.
The suburbs affected by the urgent alert include Goodna, Chandler, Mount Gravatt, Oxley, Springfield Lakes, Kenmore, Wacol, Richlands and Forest Lake.
