In a 12th-century church about and hour and a half west of London, Pippa Middleton said “I do” — and as she did, many wondered where Meghan Markle was.
As the younger sibling to the Duchess of Cambridge married James Matthews, a super rich hedge fund manager in Englefield, England — the world’s attention became split between the wedding and the uncertain location of Prince Harry’s American actress girlfriend Meghan Markle.
In the lead up to the big day, speculations swirled over whether or not the Prince’s Toronto-dwelling girlfriend would accompany him to the ceremony, the reception or both.
Reports emerging on Saturday morning from the event featured photos of the 32-year-old Prince strolling over to St. Mark’s church alongside his brother, William, the Duke of Cambridge, but without a date.
While Markle did not appear to be at the ceremony, it is still unclear whether the star of Suits will join her boyfriend later in the day at the reception taking place at the Middleton parents’ home in Bucklebury (not far from where the ceremony was held).
On Saturday, People reported that Prince Harry planned to pick up Markle in London after the wedding and that the couple would then attend the reception together later in the day.
Media reported that the couple was spotted attending a friend’s wedding in Jamaica earlier this year.
In the lead up to the big day, media have touted Middleton’s wedding as “almost” royal. Meanwhile, rumours have been swirling that Prince Harry might be getting ready to bust out a ring soon.
And while she’s yet to have been spotted at Saturday’s festivities (at the time of this writing), what we do know is that Markle has been seen in the neighbourhood recently.
A photo of the actress — sporting a casual look with a Toronto Blue Jays baseball cap — was snapped by British media in the London neighbourhood of Soho earlier this week. She was also recently seen watching Prince Harry play polo.
Since rumours that the couple started dating surfaced last year, tabloids have been relentlessly hounding them and following their globe-trotting visits to spend time with each other in their respective cities.
Last fall, Prince Harry slammed the media’s treatment of his girlfriend and expressed concerns for her privacy and safety.
