Authorities in Miami responded early Friday to reports of an active shooter at the Trump National Doral who was reportedly yelling and "spewing some information about President Trump.”
An unidentified male suspect was shot and rushed to a nearby hospital, the Miami-Dade Police Department said in a statement on Twitter. His condition is unknown.
“These officers did not hesitate for one second to engage this individual who was actively shooting in the lobby of the hotel,” Director Juan Perez of the Miami-Dade Police, said, according to The Sun-Sentinel.
Authorities said they are not ruling out terrorism, WPLG reported. The Miami-Dade Police Department is leading the investigation until federal authorities take over.
The suspect repeatedly called 911 and was actively shooting in the lobby of the resort. Police said it was an attempt to draw authorities inside, the station reported. The man also reportedly was yelling about Trump and placed an American flag over the lobby counter.
Police said “no shooting victims have been reported at this time,” although one officer received an injury unrelated to the shooting, and is in good condition.
Homeland Security and Secret Service officials both responded to the scene.
The resort, which was previously known as the Doral Resort & Spa, was bought by the Trump Organization in 2012.
