Multiple great white shark sightings over the weekend forced Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet to close several times.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancys Sharktivity app listed a shark alert Saturday morning and that the beach would be closed until 11 a.m.
More sightings at the Wellfleet beach Saturday kept the beach closed to swimming. Massachusetts State Police Air Wing crew members spotted two white sharks in the area Saturday afternoon.
Another sighting at the beach was reported Sunday morning around 10 a.m. Swimming was closed for one hour.
Newcomb Hollow Beach is where 26-year-old Arthur Medici, of Revere, died in a fatal shark attack in September 2018.
Officials also confirmed a great white shark killed a 63-year-old New York woman who was swimming about 20 yards off Bailey Island in Maine on Monday.
