Lauren from Married At First Sight says she told Matthew about her intimacy needs because she felt like she had to take a "leading role" when it came to their sexual relationship.
During Tuesday night's episode, Lauren sat Matt down for an upfront discussion about the kind of things she needs due to the fact he wasn't taking any initiative with their marriage.
"Up until raising intimacy issues with Matt, I was constantly trying to gauge whether he was attracted to me and what levels of intimacy he was comfortable with," Lauren tells 9Honey Celebrity. "He didn't initiate intimacy between us and I felt like I had to take a leading role."
During the conversation, Lauren told Matt she needed him to be in control and to take a more dominant role.
"I feel like if you knew half the things that I've experienced in the past, I don't know how you'd handle it," she explained to him. "Like certain things I might be into. How would you feel if I was into, like, swinging, threesomes… I am a very sexually open person and I worry that it might be a bit much for you."
Matthew was clearly startled, telling a producer, "A few days ago I was still a virgin and now she's talking about threesomes, swinging. Her sexual appetite might be too much for me."
Loz uses the term dominant and I'm still not 100 per cent sure what that means. Is that someone aggressive, angry, abusive? If that's what dominant is, I don't want any part of it.
But Lauren tells us he may have misconstrued the point she was trying to make.
"I definitely think that Matt misunderstood my attempts to push the boundaries and discuss his intimacy barriers as me being a bit intense," she says. "I intended to be open up a discussion about intimacy to help him to explore it further given he was so guarded."
After opening up to Matthew, Lauren invited Jules and Cam over to their apartment for a chat, where the topic of her sexual history came up again.
"I am comfortable talking about sex and it was actually quite a relief to finally be able to open up to someone about the intimacy issues in our relationship given it [has been] hard to talk to Matt," she says.
It was a big week for the Lauren and Matt. Prior to opening up about sex, Lauren told Matt she "used to be a lesbian", having previously dated women before joining the experiment.
"He placed a lot of emphasis on it being a big thing and a real surprise," Lauren recalls. "Telling him about my interest in women in the past was spontaneous, but at the same time it was something I was always happy to share with him at the right time. I guess it is the same as speaking about exes in a new relationship -- it doesn't really matter whether they are male or female exes, it's probably not something you want to bring up straight away."
As for those pregnancy rumours that are floating around, Lauren says, "They are not true."
