Man charged after Brisbane bus driver forced off route

A man allegedly forced a Brisbane bus driver off the scheduled route and made the driver travel seemingly at random for almost 15 minutes on Wednesday afternoon.

A 27-year-old West End man boarded an empty bus in Brisbane City about 4.45pm and threatened the bus driver, police will allege.

Police were alerted to the incident and stopped the bus at St Pauls Terrace at Spring Hill about 4.58pm.

The man, who had allegedly smashed a glass panel on the bus, was detained by police.

He appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with obstruct police, wilful damage and possess dangerous drugs and was remanded in custody.

Police said the bus driver was uninjured.
