A father ended up winning $200,000 (Dh734,000 approx) lottery jackpot while he went to McDonald's to pick up food for his kids. The North Carolina man said that on his way to get food, he impulsively stopped to buy a Back Scratch lottery ticket from a Dollar Country store.
Edward Rackley of Nashville told North Carolina Education Lottery officials that he bought the ticket and continued on to the nearest McDonald's drive-through.
"I had ordered 50 chicken nuggets and four plain hamburgers. I figured while I was waiting, I might as well start scratching," said Rackley. He added that after scratching the ticket he didn't believe his eyes when he saw the $200,000 prize and so he asked the McDonald's clerk for a second opinion.
"She confirmed it. I was in fact seeing it right," UPI quoted Rackley as saying. The winner collected $141,003 after required state and federal tax withholdings. The lucky winner plans to fix up his car and spend the rest on his kids.
"I know one thing. Santa will be good to them this year," the elated winner said.
