Kid Rock is done with Detroit.
The 48-year-old rocker announced on Facebook he wouldn’t be renewing his licensing agreement this April for his Made in Detroit restaurant following his lewd rant against Oprah Winfrey that resulted in people calling him racist.
“I appreciate all who have patronized our place and still have much love for the City of Detroit and the people / organizations that I have helped there for years, black, white, whatever, but learned long ago, go where you’re celebrated, not tolerated,” the Michigan native wrote, noting the “millions of dollars” he gave to the city apparently “was not enough.”
“I may be guilty of being a loud mouth jerk at times, but trying to label me racist is a joke, and actually only does a disservice to the black community, which I have supported my entire life, by trying to alienate myself and many others,” the crooner continued.
On Wednesday, the owners of the sports arena in which the venue is housed said that Rock voluntarily decided not to renew the deal that comes up in April. The Ilitch organization’s statement says its venues are open, inviting, inclusive and respectful to all. The restaurant opened in 2017 in Little Caesars Arena, which is home to the Detroit Pistons and Red Wings.
The musician was escorted off stage in his Honky Tonk Bar in Nashville recently when he went on a profanity-laced tirade against Winfrey, saying in video obtained by TMZ: Fk her, she can suck dk sideways.
