The AIADMK is not interested in peoples welfare and is only keen on saving its government by supporting the BJP at the Centre, DMK president M.K. Stalin said here on Saturday.
Addressing a street corner meeting at Surapattu as part of his campaign for party candidate N. Pugazhenthi for the Vikravandi byelection, the Opposition leader said the State government was blindly supporting the BJP at the Centre to save its own skin, as it had only five members more than the required strength in the Assembly.
Since the AIADMK government was facing corruption charges, it did not want to antagonise the Centre.
The BJP government had taken several measures which were against the interests of Tamil Nadu, but the AIADMK had failed to oppose these moves, Mr. Stalin said.
The DMK leader said it was "not the AIADMK government but Modi government in Tamil Nadu.
Accusing the State government of indulging in corruption, he claimed not a single Ministry was free of graft. Even garbage collection was riddled with corruption, he added.
The government did not even have the courage to hold local body elections, the DMK leader said.
