Whoever she is, she has followers talking.
Goop, the much-maligned wellness company founded by actress-entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow, confused fans when it shared a photo of a naked blonde Wednesday with its 1.1 million Instagram followers.
Many questioned if the image was of Gwyneth stretching in front of a grassy mountainside.
“We lie to ourselves for good and bad reasons,” the three-sentence caption begins. The post promoted a new story featured on the brand’s site called “Why the Body Knows Best,” by Dana Childs, an “intuitive energy healer.”
Cue the haters accusing Paltrow of promoting idealized female beauty.
“Goop you get this wrong so often,” one critic responded to the photo. “Your insta posts are millennial white girls and now this unrealistic body image. For claiming to be about empowering women you need a reality check and get real.”
“Gwyneth saluting her staff every morning,” wrote another of the image, which has received more than 12,000 likes.
Some defended the photo, saying that all bodies are beautiful.
“Dear Haters, while you speak of body image, you hate this body?” one fan commented. “Acceptance of ALL body types includes this body too.”
“Everyone, chill! Its a body,” a second person chimed in. “Just because its not your size body, stop judging it! All your ‘too thin’ comments are a reflection of your own insecurities.”
Paltrow has been accused of being an “extortionist,” over her promotion of pricey health products through Goop. Many of her methods, including encouraging women to steam their vaginas, have been reported as dangerous medical advice.
