Guy Fieri has become known for his bleach blond hair, dark roots, goatee and flame-printed clothing but it wasn’t always that way.
The chef’s wife, Lori Fieri, hardly recognizes the man she married. When I first met him, he had no goatee. He had dark hair. He wore a suit to work every day, she told People magazine about their 1992 romance. Now I look at him and Im like, Wheres that man I married with the whole clean look?’
Fieri stumbled into his now-signature look by accident after giving his hairstylist free reign to do “whatever” she wanted to his head. I get done and Im like, You gonna wash that out, that shampoo? She goes, No, thats your hair color. Im like, My what!,'” he told the magazine. “It was Friday night at like six oclock. I had to be at the restaurant. Im like, No. Shes like, Yeah. So I put a ball cap on and walked to the restaurant.
After that, Lori said that the “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” host would dye his hair seasonally red-blonde in the summer and dark in the winter before succumbing to the ultra-white color.
I always say, When are you going to change your haircut? But it stuck and its him, she admitted. I tease him every once in a while. And I do want a little change sometimes. But thats like me changing my hair to black. I mean, Im not going to do that for him, so.
Hair is apparently a sacred topic in the Fieri household.
