Elton John doesn’t mince words.
When fellow musician Bob Dylan recently asked the flamboyant pop musician, 72, a technical question about his hit song “Tiny Dancer,” John didn’t hesitate to describe it in lurid terms.
“Writing a song like thats a bit like having a wank, really,” he said, in a recent article in The Guardian newspaper. “You want the climax to be good, but you dont want it to be over too quickly you want to work your way up to it.”
Promoting his new autobiography, “Me” which is due out next week, John dishes in the article on his friendship with Queen’s Freddie Mercury, John Lennon’s attempt to come up with his own drag name, his intervention to save designer Donatella Versace from drug addiction and his own struggles with alcoholism. John, who has said he will retire from performing, is currently on a three-year farewell tour.
The article features questions from celebrities and friends, including rapper Eminem who asked if John and his husband David Furnish have ever used the gift he gave them for their 2005 wedding.
“Eminem bought me and David matching cock rings when we got married,” said John. “That was his gift. They sit there, like the crown jewels, in this beautiful box on satin cushions. Theyre wonderful to look at. I dont know if any guests weve had have used them. God, I hope not.”
Responding to a question from model and actor Cara Delevigne about what woman he would like to have been in the past, John picked actor Elizabeth Taylor.
“She was f–ing talented and brilliant…she was beautiful,…she had a lot of sex, and …she had the most fantastic jewelry.”
