Drunk man refuses to vacate flat, assaults security guard
A man stood on trial at the Sharjah Criminal Court for allegedly assaulting a security guard after refusing to comply with an eviction notice.
The victim told the court that he accompanied the eviction team to the accuseds apartment, Emarat Al Youm reported. He said that the defendant was apparently drunk when they asked him to vacate the flat. The accused, an Arab national, told them that he needed 10 minutes to collect his things and leave from there, the victim claimed.
Later, the accused reportedly refused to follow the eviction orders and beat up the security guard and the landlord, which prompted the victim to call the police, the security guard pointed out.
The police referred him to the public prosecution, and legal proceedings were started against him. The defendant denied the charges against him and pleaded not guilty.
The court adjourned the case till April 30 to summon the prosecution witness and landlord to hear their statements.
