Criss Angel‘s 5-year-old son, Johnny Crisstopher Sarantakos, is once again battling cancer.
“He’s been in remission, but unfortunately … he had a relapse and he’s going back into the hospital on Monday,” the magician told TMZ on Tuesday.
Johnny Crisstopher was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was 2 years old, and had been in treatment until this fall.
On Sept. 27, Johnny’s mother Shaunyl Benson shared on Instagram that the couple’s son was finally cancer- free.
“Our little Superman had his port taken out today,” she captioned a video taken at the hospital. “After almost 4 years, hes finally free. the surgery went great and he is recovering well! We are so proud of you Johnny Crisstopher.”
It is unclear when Angel, 51, and Benson, 27, learned their son’s cancer was back. However, he already has plans to help raise money to combat pediatric cancer.
“We’re going to try to raise $5 million in one night at Planet Hollywood,” Angel told TMZ. “I’m going to give details about the event that will happen next year, so I’ll definitely get back to you.”
