McDavid was unable to get up after the collision. He was later helped off the ice by an athletic trainer and teammate Zack Kassian. McDavid did not appear to put any weight on his leg as he was helped off the ice.
We won’t speculate about the nature of the injury.
In 77 games prior to Saturday, McDavid scored 41 goals and 75 assists, leading his team.
The Oilers’ season ends tonight. Upon his team’s elimination last week, McDavid voiced his frustration over the lost year. “We have a lot of crap to figure out,” McDavid said. “I hope we can put the right man in the spot and we can put together a good team.”
