Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum was carried off the court in the third quarter of Portland’s game versus the San Antonio Spurs tonight. Video replay shows a nasty fall with his foot turning inward as he’s stepped on by Spurs center Jakob Poeltl.
McCollum left the game immediately. The Blazers have announced an unspecified “left leg injury” and indicated he will not return tonight.
The injury occurred with 7:10 remaining in the third quarter. Prior to exiting, McCollum recorded 10 points in 23 minutes of action. Poeltl, the 23-year-old center who landed on McCollum, is listed at 230 pounds according to his ESPN profile.

Jason Quick of The Athletic quotes Head Coach Terry Stotts saying x-rays on McCollum’s leg came back negative. It’s worth noting that x-rays don’t reveal all possible types of damage, thus an MRI will still be necessary.
