City moving towards a signal-free traffic system, says Mayor

The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated by various government departments and institutions with pomp and fervour by hoisting the tricolour here on Thursday.

City Mayor Bonthu Rammohan hoisted the National Flag in the presence of Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiyuddin and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Commissioner M. Dana Kishore at the GHMC head office. Mr. Rammohan said Hyderabad was progressing at a brisk pace with development works worth 40,000 crore were taken up and 3 crore saplings were planted and 53 theme parks and Basthi clinics were set up. Construction of one lakh double bedroom houses was also taken up. The city was progressing towards signal-free traffic system and already four flyovers came into use under the SRDP.

State Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Nethi Vidyasagar hoisted the National Flag in the Council premises. State High Court Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chouhan hoisted the National Flag on the High Court premises and extended his greetings to the people. He said that several milestones were achieved in the last seven decades and foundation stone was laid for Telangana Judicial Academy Bhavan at Shamirpet and he formally launched the App for e-filing in the e-portal in tune with developments in the Internet. The High Court entered into an MoU with the SBI and e-payment system would be started soon and court charges could be paid online.

Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the National Police Academy and Director Abhay hoisted the National Flag. Every one should remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters with gratitude and the police should strive in not only protecting the freedom of the nation but in further spreading it, he said.

Mr. Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development hoisted the National Flag at Telangana Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TUFIDC) . Mr. Arvind Kumar, who is also the in-charge Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, participated in the Independence Day celebrations on the university campus.

Increase greenery

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R. Shobha hoisted the national flag at Aranya Bhavan and exhorted the staff to strive for increasing greenery and protecting the environment. Yerram Raju, Advisor, Telangana Industrial Health Clinic hoisted the National Flag at the Parishrama Bhavan in the presence of Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Vice-Chairman and MD E.Venkat Narsimha Reddy. Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor V. Praveen Rao unfurled the tricolour at the campus and said more agricultural colleges would come up in the State. Food habits of people were changing and in tune with it, changes should also be brought in the research projects.

Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Open University Director (Academic) Prof A.Sudhakar hoisted the National Flag to mark the I-Day at the campus.

SCR celebrates

South Central Railway joined the nation in celebrating the Independence Day. South Central Railway General Manager Gajanan Mallya unfurled the national flag and received the Guard of Honour at a colourful gathering at Railway Sports Complex Ground, Secunderabad. Contingents representing Railway Protection Force (RPF), Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF), Civil Defence Organisation, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Scouts and Guides and National Green Corps participated in the March Past.

Taking stock of SCRs performance during the current fiscal, the General Manager stated that SCR has recorded gross earnings of 4906 crore between April-July 2019. The freight loading registered for the four-month period is 39 million tonnes while the originating passenger traffic was 129 millions.

At the celebrations at public sector enterprise NMDC headquarters here, Director (Production) P.K. Satpathy, who unfurled the tricolor, underscored the need for the workforce to go the extra mile and work in partnership to take the company to commanding heights.

A release from NMDC said Director (Finance) Amitava Mukherjee, Director (Commercial) Alok Kumar Mehta and CVO V.V.S. Sreenivas participated. Patriotic song and dance performances by staff marked the celebrations organised by SBI Hyderabad circle. Chief General Manager OP Mishra also stressed the need for everyone to follow Swacch Bharat rules and work hard for the countrys prosperity.
