Children reportedly found in dog kennel on Texas

RHOME, Texas (KXAS) – Two young children were found locked in a dog kennel near Rhome, the Wise County Sheriff’s Office said according to the Wise County Messenger.

Four young children, who were all malnourished, were found at the home, the newspaper reported. Officers found a man and woman at the home about 7:20 a.m. to a home near County Road 4655 near Newark and Rhome, according to the paper.

While speaking to the man and woman about a possible family violence situation, the deputy heard children inside the home and law enforcement eventually found four children total, according to the newspaper.

The two oldest children, ages 4 and 5, were found malnourished and locked inside a dog kennel. The 3-year-old and 1-year-old who were not in the kennel were also malnourished, the Messenger reported.

The woman was taken into custody on a family violence charge.

The man was hospitalized for an injury to his face. The children were hospitalized at Cook Children’s in Fort Worth.

Child Protective Services said they received a report about a case in Wise County involving four children and are in the early stages of the investigation.
