St Kilda is the latest team to heap misery on Carlton’s floundering AFL season, with a comprehensive 64-point victory at Etihad Stadium.
The Saints produced a barn-storming eight-goal-to-two second half to relegate the Blues to their 49th consecutive score under 100 points.
The final score was 16.20 (116) to 7.10 (52).
Carlton coach Brendon Bolton remains up beat about the Blues despite the poor season, saying everyone at the club is continually accountable.
“We performance-review ourselves every week and we’ve got KPIs [key performance indicators],” says Bolton. “We always have ongoing discussions about what we’re doing well and what we’re not. What I know is these guys are working incredibly hard and at the end of the year, we review everything.”
Round 17 continues this afternoon with the Hawks hosting Brisbane in Tasmania for Hawthorn star James Frawley’s 200th AFL match.
Later, Melbourne will take on the Bulldogs at the MCG.
In the two night games, the Suns will meet the Bombers while GWS faces Richmond.
