While he has not yet formally requested a trade and he is contracted, Wingard is reportedly keen to be traded to Waverley Park.

“He has selected the Hawks as his preferred destination,” Sam McClure told Trade Radio.

“Obviously the lure of (Alastair) Clarkson is a significant one. The Hawks just have to get the deal done now.”

Hawthorn holds picks 15 and 35 in this year’s draft but they may need to deal a future selection to obtain the midfielder/forward.

Wingard is contracted for 2019.

Wingard reportedly met with Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge for dinner recently at his home, with the Dogs and Hawks having been looming as two potential new homes for Wingard.

On Wednesday, Bulldog Jackson Trengove posted a picture on Instagram of himself, Port’s Sam Powell-Pepper and Hawk Jarman Impey with the caption “@chadwingard... pick one.”

The post was deleted hours later.
