A gunman walked into a crowded bar in Thousand Oaks on Thursday morning and began firing a gun, injuring at least six people, including a deputy.
About half a dozen people were injured, officials said. The gunman was still being sought. It was not immediately known whether there were any fatalities.
The incident happened during a college night at 11:15 at the Borderline Bar & Grill at 99 Rolling Oaks Drive, said Capt. Garo Karedjian, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
Michel Hunter, a witness, said he saw the gunman.
"I saw him walk in," Hunter said. "And he started shooting."
He said he heard some 20 shots and it seemed to take a while before the police arrived.
"It took forever to get the cops there," he said.
