iPhone XR for $599 ($50 gift card)
Apple's not discounting its phones, but it is offering a $50 Apple Store Gift Card when you purchase select models like the iPhone XR. The XR, 2018's best-selling iPhone (8/10, WIRED Recommends), is still a great option. Its range of colors make it stand out, and its size is perfect for one-handed use. The camera might not be as versatile as the iPhone 11 Pro Max, and its screen not as impressive, but it still takes great photos, and battery life is pretty good. This can be combined with a trade-in, which will net you up to $200 in credit, and you do get one year of Apple TV+ included.
Check out Apple's Black Friday page to see what other products you can buy to nab a gift card.
Google Pixel 3A for $299 ($100 off)
This is one of our favorite phones of the year. Google brought its considerable camera prowess down to the affordable phone market. It also has good battery life too, a sore point on the new Pixel 4, and its polycarbonate body won't shatter at the first drop. Because it's a Pixel phone, it will get software and security updates directly from Google (the maker of the Android operating system) for three years.
Google Pixel 4 XL for $699 ($200 off)
The Google Pixel 4 XL is the latest from Google, with multiple cameras on the back that can capture some stunning photos. That's paired with simple software, clever machine learning features, and a really nice screen. The downside is battery life, which isn't very strong, but it can make it through one full day of use. Read our review for more details. You can buy the smaller Pixel 4 for $600, but I wouldn't recommend it as you will really struggle to get through a day with its small battery capacity inside.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus for $900 ($200 off)
Samsung's latest massive phone is powerful and packed to the brim with featuresperhaps a little too packed. Three camera lenses on the back let you take in wide landscapes or zoom in for close ups. The S Pen stylus is tucked inside, and you can use it as a Bluetooth remote to control some functions of the phone, like the camera. The all-screen design makes the Note look quite futuristic, especially in the Aura Glow color, though it gets quite smudgy. The Note 10 Plus earned our WIRED Recommends badge, and made it into our list of the top 10 Android phones. If this phone is too big for you, take a look at the smaller Note 10. It shares almost all the same features, and can be bought for $750 ($200 off).
