The search for a Sydney teenager feared drowned after he went missing in treacherous surf off the NSW mid north coast a week ago has been suspended.
Ali Mosawi, 17, was swept away in a rip last Saturday while swimming with his brother and three cousins at the unpatrolled Pebbly Beach, north of Coffs Harbour.
An active recovery operation to find his body was called off on Friday although police and lifesaving volunteers will continue to sweep the area as part of their regular patrols, a NSW police spokeswoman said.
'There's no police operation any longer,' she said.
'What we're doing is we're now waiting for any new information.'
